Samsung X360

Samsung has just unveiled its latest slim laptop that is lighter than Macbook Air. The new X360 weighs at just 1.27Kg, slightly lighter than the Apple MacBook Air’s 1.36Kg. X360 may be ultra-thin, but it still carries respectable specs featuring Centrino 2 ULV processor, up to 4GB of RAM, bluetooth, wifi (including support for 802.11n), a DVD rewriter, built in 1.3 megapixel webcam, HDMI out,and the latest 128GB solid state drive. The 13.3″ Laptop can last for up to 10 hours without adaptor after a single recharge. X60 is supposed to retail sometime in September for approximate $2000 - $3000 depending on configuration.

Vostro A860 from Dell

Dell expects to release its entry-level business notebook pc ‘Vostro A860′ in Japan market in September. Adopting a 15.6-inch 16:9 LCD display, the Vostro A860 features Intel Celeron 560 CPU, Windows Vista OS, 120GB HDD, 1GB of RAM and wireless LAN support. Suggested price is 73,500(JPY).

HP Korea to launch its first Puma-based laptops

HP Korea launches its two business-class notebook PCs based on Puma mobile platform, the 15.4-inch HP Compaq 6735b and 14.1-inch 6535b.

The HP Compaq 6735b and 6535b have the ATI Radeon HD 3200 integrated graphics and support up to 8GB of DDR2 800MHz memory. However, the offered configurations include 2GB or 3GB of RAM. The currently available systems also feature up to 160GB of hard drive space, a DVD burner, which can be replaced with a secondary HDD, and built-in web camera in select models.

The 6735b comes with a WXGA anti-glare, WXGA BrightView, or WSXGA+ anti-glare 15.4-inch screen. Display options for the 14.1-inch HP Compaq 6535b include WXGA anti-glare, WXGA BrightView, and WXGA+ anti-glare.

Regarding networking and connectivity, there are Broadcom’s 802.11a/b/g draft-n wireless module, Gigabit Ethernet controller, a 56K modem, and Bluetooth and mobile broadband options. Each of the notebooks has four USB ports, an ExpressCard slot, Firewire port, VGA and S-Video outputs, and a media card reader.

Security features include the Trusted Platform Module 1.2 and various security-related software applications, as well as an optional fingerprint reader and Smart Card reader which replaces the ExpressCard slot. Suggested price is between 1,100,000(KRW) and 1,300,000(KRW).

Zepto Orion A15, Anthea A15 Laptops

Zepto announced two new machines for home / office users. Like the earlier notebook, both are named after Greek warriors. The Orion (pictured above) is a 15.4-inch Intel-powered notebook, named after an exceptionally skilled Greek hunter, who was given a place amongst the stars at his death. It features 2.0Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo P7350 processor, up to 4GB RAM, 320GB HDD, Intel GMA X4500 graphics card, DVD burner, WiFi, Bluetooth, and Windows Vista operating system.

Gateway has released a new gaming machine targeted towards college-goers who are just about to begin their new academic year. The latest addition in gateway’s P-Series FX Edition line is an affordable gaming notebook with Intel’s Centrino 2 processor technology running under it’s hood. As for graphics, it relies on the latest NVIDIA GeForce 9800M GTS graphics solution with 512MB of GDDR3 discrete video memory.
